Davit and Lifeboat Training Facility

Completed 2024: Design and construction of a specialised commercial/industrial maritime training facility at the Great Barrier Reef International Marine College waterfront site, including demolition, screw pile foundations, structural steel fabrication and erection, and complex concrete works, integrated with existing port infrastructure – Portsmith.

Scope of Works

FCQ successfully delivered a specialised training facility construction at the Great Barrier Reef International Marine College waterfront site, involving demolition of existing structures, installation of screw pile foundations, comprehensive structural steel fabrication and erection, and extensive concrete works including slabs and footings. The project included installation of complex mechanical systems and maritime training equipment, construction of elevated work platforms and access structures, and seamless integration with existing port infrastructure.

FCQ also coordinated with QBuild subcontractors completing refurbishment works to the lifeboat and davit equipment, ensuring precise alignment between our steel superstructure and their connection points for flawless integration. We were very proud to also receive a Master Builders Far North Qld Construction Award for this project for the category: Commercial/Industrial Building up to $5 million.
